How to Influence Your Dreams
Posted by admin in Prescription Sleep Medicine on July 15th, 2009
Dreaming is a natural part of life that all humans experience on a semi-regular basis. Even when we go on dry spells of dreaming, the dreams that we do have we desire to be fun and positive. On the other hand, nightmares can be terrifying, and often the negative feelings of such a dream carry over in to the next day. Not only do our dreams occupy our experiences of the night, but in many cases they affect our lives as well. Due to this fact, people desire to have good dreams, and there are many theories about how to influence what kind of dreams you have.
Some of the influences for our dreams are unavoidable. Sometimes small parts of our day creep in to our dreams, and if we have a bad day, we are more likely to have a bad dream. This is not always the case, though. In many cases, dreams can have absolutely nothing to do with what happened during the day, and sometimes they are influenced more by the emotions of a day rather than the specific events. Other times, you may dream about something that directly correlates which what happened in the day. This is usually the case if the event was particularly powerful or meaningful. We have little control about the random good and bad things that happen to us, but thankfully, we still have some semblance of power over what happens in our minds.
Through training and meditation, many individuals have gained the power of lucid dreaming. This is the only way to gain total control over your dreams. With lucid dreaming, you decide what happens in your dreams, and you are aware that what is going on is actually a dream. It is surprising that although the vast majority of dreams are impossible or vastly improbable, we rarely notice that it is not real. Lucid dreaming allows us to overcome this ignorance and discover the truth. Since you are in control during a lucid dream, you can make it positive and do anything you want. However, people need to practice for years to master lucid dreaming, and some people just do not have that kind of time.
Other techniques to influence dreams, besides full on lucid dreaming, are more subtle and less powerful. Simply relaxing yourself and clearing your mind of stress is an easy way to help make your dreams a little better, and doing so also increases the quality of your sleep as well, which is important for how well you function the next day.
Secrets to Successful home remedies

Just why are so many people looking for home remedies for snoring. With such a large percentage of the population that are snorers and some having to spend the night alone, it’s no wonder so many people are searching for a cure. It didn’t happen to me often, but my wife did chose to sleep in another room due to the noise I was making whilst sleeping. This is one reason that sent me on a search for a cure.
What is the first step to cure your problem?
Some people snore because their nose is blocked, while others snore when their air passage in their throat is blocked. Most times this annoying sound is made by the uvula or soft palate muscle at the back of your throat vibrating. Having your airway blocked will also cause this problem. People who have too much fat at the back of their throat are also likely to snore as this fat narrows the airways in your throat, thus making it vibrate as the air travels in and out.
First you need to find out what kind of snorer you are!
For me it was not hard to determine what kind I was! If I blocked my nose and tried to breathe through my mouth I would make that noise. But when I shut my mouth and had to breathe only through my nose, I didn’t make that irritating noise. Some people like me will also tend to be louder when they have drunk some alcohol before going to sleep. This is because alcohol relaxes your throat muscles, which will make them vibrate more readily. Once you have resolved what kind you are you can take a look at all the home remedies for snoring.
While it is essentially seen as a male problem, it does also concern women and kids also. And I’m certain we’ve all heard dogs doing it also! While the great percentage of persons that are affected by it are men, they are not alone in those who disturb their partners slumber. My partner on occasions snores a little, but she has the aggravating habit of grinding her teeth. Now she just doesn’t trust me when I tell her all about it. As with snoring, if you don’t understand you have a issue, you aren’t likely to find a answer to putting an end to it. If you don’t take effect some form of action, you will go on with it forever.
What remedy best suits your needs and wallet?
As snoring is such a great concern in most countries, there are so very many products about to aid you in finding a solution. There are nasal strips, sprays, mouthpieces, chin straps and even surgical procedures to think about. Surgery is indeed the final alternative for most people as these procedures are unpleasant and the successfulness is most often not that beneficial.
Things you can try out first are products like chin straps, mouthpieces and nasal sprays as they can be low priced and easy to use. Sprays are a favorite as some are herbal remedies and these are a choice for most people who don’t want to swallow a prescription product to remedy their problem.
You may experience some discomfort using a mouthpiece or chin strap. I found that the chin strap worked best for me and I didn’t find it uncomfortable. It will be just trial and error to see which you are comfortable with and which works best. These simple home remedies for snoring have saved many couples from separation at night.

Stop Snoring Surgery Isn't Necessary
Posted by admin in Prescription Sleep Medicine on July 15th, 2009
I wanted to explain to you that getting stop snoring surgery is a completely unnecessary procedure to go through. A lot of people are negative. They assume that their snoring problem is the worst in the world. They assume that they have to go do something drastic to fix this problem. The reality is that you don’t have it bad. Only a few people out of a hundred could actually need surgery. Everyone else is in the position to easily fix the problem on their own. That’s why I wanted to take the time to explain how getting this type of stop snoring surgery can be completely unnecessary and an expense you don’t need.
You have to think about your throat as a tube with air going through it, to really understand what is happening. When you go to sleep, your throat can actually get constricted at certain points. There is a phenomenon in physics that shows that air will actually travel at faster speeds through the constricted areas. It is this speed that leads to much more vibration of loose tissue. A lot of people don’t realize that the jaw’s position actually leads to the constriction in the throat.
Since you won’t be using snoring surgery, you can just use a jaw supporter. It works quite simply. It holds up the jaw as you sleep and prevents it from pushing down on the throat. This keeps the throat tube expanded all through the night and you won’t be able to snore. The best part is that the device works the first night that you use it.
